The 2023 Jefferson Parish assessment roll is officially open for public inspection beginning Monday, August 21, 2023 and ending Tuesday, September 5, 2023. The public inspection period provides an important opportunity for the taxpayer to ensure all assessment information is accurate before the assessment roll is certified and tax bills are mailed out.

If a taxpayer disagrees with the estimated market value the Assessor places on their property, they may file an appeal with the Jefferson Parish Assessor’s Office. Appeal forms must be filled out completely and submitted during the designated public inspection period. An incomplete appeal form will be denied. If a taxpayer disagrees with their assessed value after the Assessment Review, an appeal to the Board of Review must be filed with the Jefferson Parish Council Clerk. Please note, the deadline to file with the Board of Review is Wednesday, September 20, 2023.

Assessment reviews must be filed with the Assessor’s office during the public inspection period first, before an appeal to the Board of Review can be filed with Jefferson Parish Council Clerk.
The Board of Review will take place at the Jefferson Parish Council meeting, Eastbank Chambers, on Wednesday, September 27, 2023.

The Assessor's office offers you information regarding your homestead exemption, millage rates, ownerships, property valuation, and information for business owners as well. How Do I File for Homestead Exemption?

You must appear in person at either location of the Jefferson Parish Assessor's office to sign for the homestead exemption. You should bring with you a copy of your act of sale for the property and a photo identification showing the address of the property on which the homestead exemption is being filed. If a husband and wife own the property jointly, only one has to appear in person. After you have initially filed for your homestead exemption, each year thereafter, you will receive a receipt in the mail showing your homestead exemption is permanent. You will no longer be eligible for the homestead exemption on that home should you move to another location or sell your house.
